Adult Religious Education

The Adult Religious Education (ARE) plans and coordinates programs for adults. We cover a wide variety of topics: spiritual concerns (for example, how do we use the silence in meeting for worship?); spiritual aspects of current events; Bible Study; Quaker History and Practices; etc. Sometimes a speaker from outside will visit us and present on a particular topic, and sometimes a member will report on recent travels in ministry.

For a small rural meeting, Monadnock is quite engaged with the greater Quaker world. We are well represented at the Yearly Meeting’s summer sessions for business, and many of us serve on committees within the Yearly Meeting and other Quaker organizations. These connections provide ongoing adult religious education, which we encourage members to share, often in ARE discussions.
